UNISON Strike

As I’m sure you’ll be aware UNISON is planning to take further industrial action on 23 and 24 November 2016 over changes to pay relating to Teaching Assistants. This is a dispute between UNISON members and Durham County Council, it is not a dispute with the school.
The action may result in class or whole school closures across the county.
The decision to close the school and / or send pupils home is never taken lightly but in this instance, where staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, I will have no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all pupils.
We know that class / school closures inconvenience parents and carers and so I am writing to give you advance notice of the likely impact of the action on this school.
If the action does go ahead, the following arrangements will be in place:

  • School will be open on Wednesday 23 November as usual however there will be no supervision on the yard at 8:40am therefore pupils should not arrive on the premises until 8:55am.
  • 24 November is back to normal.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
